3rd Cypriot-Russian Festival
The third annual Cypriot-Russian Festival will be taking place at the Limassol seafront (Molos) next weekend. The festival aims to bring Russian and Cypriot cultures closer together, in a town with a large and vibrant Russian community.
“This event has a real place and audience in our town, which is home to thousands of Russian citizens, in addition to many other thousands of residents from other countries who speak Russian as their main language,” said Andreas Christou, Mayor of Limassol.
“The development of bonds of friendship and co-operation, but mainly the creative use of this human capital are within the priorities of our municipality and for this reason we attach great significance to these events,” Christou added.
“I am particularly glad that Cyprus has developed into a cosmopolitan country and its society has been changing for the better. We are glad to be part of the cultural and economic life that is evolving,” said Dalia Chrysanthou, representative of Lukoil, one of the event’s sponsors.
Jointly organised by the Russian Embassy in Cyprus, Limassol Municipality and Russian newspaper Vestnik Kipra, the two-day programme of events includes performances from over 400 singers, groups, dancers and artists from Cyprus and Russia, as well as a fair, exhibitions, and kids playgrounds.
The festival’s principal sponsors are Avtovazbank and Lukoil, and its main sponsors include the Russian Commercial Bank, Deloitte and Touch Blue.
Events start on Saturday June 7 at 4pm, while the official opening ceremony will take place at 7pm on the same day. The festival will be open to the public, free of charge.
