Cyprus Pride Parade 2016

Update: THE CYPRUS PRIDE PARADE 2016 WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY, DUE TO BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS

Due to the bad weather conditions that are expected to continue tomorrow (Saturday, 28/5) throughout the day, the Cyprus Pride Parade 2016 will take place on Sunday, 29 May 2016. Please note that the Open-Air party, featuring Drag Queen PRISCILLA fom the Jackie'O Club, in Mykonos, will take place on Saturday, 28/5, at 22:30, in the Garden Day & Night, as originally planned and announced.
Accept-LGBT Cyprus took all precautions available to avoid postponing the event, however our technicians have deemed that these conditions are creating a safety risk.

All events scheduled on the Pride Day will take place on Sunday, 29/5 in the Nicosia Municipal Garden, beginning with family activities at 15:00. The Pride Parade will start at 17:30 and will return ito the Municipal Garden for a full-blown celebration with many artists, live music, food, drinks and loads of dancing

The Cyprus Pride 2016, will take place between 17 – 28 May 2016, with the Cyprus Pride Parade taking place on 28 May, in Nicosia.

The central message is “TransForm your Mind” aimed at encouraging everyone to free their mind of all prejudice. At the sametime, it attempts to turn the spotlight on a group of people who,excatly because of the prevailing prejudice, remians in the fringes of society: trans people.

The two previous Pride events with the impressive participation of the crowd, have had a profound impact on the human rights struggle in our country, proving that the society of Cyprus is more accepting than commonly believed, prepared to understand, to claim and progress, even able to oblige the state itself to follow suit securing for the LGBTI community the right of family. In the process, our state became a little more just, a little more accepting and a little more humane.

But our sturuggle for equal rights for everyone must continue and it must become stronger. The road is long and our march has just began.

This year, we walk for the right of each and everyone, including trans people, to live without prejudice and social exclusion; for the right of all human beings to self-determination. Let the Cyprus Pride 2016 become, once again, a celebration of diversity. Walk by our side and claim equal rights for all; until there are no exceptions.
