Cyprus Rally 2015
The CNP ASFALISTIKI Cyprus Rally 2015 is at the gates and it promises supreme action, not only through its innovations but also the amazing ensemble of quick and breath-taking special stages that await all the world-class crews that are currently gearing up! This year’s may very well be the fastest ever organized on the island! Much like last year, this year’s CNP ASFALISTIKI Cyprus Rally will host not one, but two FIA-sanctioned regional championship rounds. The 8th round of the European Rally Championship and the 5th round of the Middle-East Rally Championship. At the same time, the local crews taking part will be competing at the fourth round of the local rallying championship, bringing the total tally to 3 separate events into one, making the CNP ASFALISTIKI Cyprus Rally 2015 the only event that can make such a claim.
Sixteen fast and demanding special stages, tallying up a total of 664,18 kilometers will test a plethora of crews from Cyprus, Europe and the Middle-East all of which are promising an exciting rally for the thousands of motorsport fans which will be present out around the island during the weekend. The most important innovation of the CNP ASFALISTIKI Cyprus Rally 2015 is the inclusion of the beach front of Larnaca – Foinikoudes – as the place for the Ceremonial Start and Finish of the event. Meanwhile, for a second year running, the central streets of Nicosia will host a super special stage, thus connecting this divided capital.
The real action will kick-off on Saturday (26th of September) morning on a day which includes a total of eight Special Stages, three of which will be repeated. Specifically, crews will set off at 06:30 in the morning from Park Ferme and will head to Kotsiatis for a 15,20 kilometer long stage. Next up will be Lithrodontas (22,00km) and Lagia (10,34km). The last morning stage will be Klavdia (11,42km) after which the crews will head back to the Service Park for noon repairs, debrief and a breather from all the morning action! At 11:38 they will all head out again for the afternoon loop of all the stages that took place in the morning.
There will be a small difference between the two Saturday loops, however, in that the second loop will begin with Lythrodontas and continue with Lagia and Klavdia. The fourth Saturday afternoon stage will be none other than the Super Special Stage which will once again be hosted in the heart of the capital city of Nicosia. The SSS start is set for 17:15 with the first car returning to the Service Park at 18:21.
The Sunday (27th of September) action will start at 08:00, with the remaining crews heading out to the pedal-to-the-metal stage in Geri (13,14km) and then to Agia Marina (11,41km). The third Sunday stage will be held in Kelia (09,93km) with Tseri (13,17km) concluding the morning loop. After the noon Service, cars will head out to repeat the four stages. The scenic Finikoudes will then host the Ceremonial Finish at 18:30, bringing this festival of speed to an end.
