David Tartakover | Free Hand Design
The Embassy of Israel in Cyprus and the Department of Design & Multimedia of the University of Nicosia invite you to a lecture / presentation by the internationally acclaimed Israeli designer David Tartakover.
The event will take place on Frida, 30 November at 18:30pm, at the UNESCO Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia.
David Tartakover is without a doubt the most important Israeli graphic designer nowadays.
Artist, graphic designer, researcher and curator, born in Israel in 1944, he lives and works in Tel Aviv.
Since 1976 Tartakover teaches at the Visual Communication Department, Bezalel, Academy of Art and Design in Jerusalem, and operates his studio in Tel Aviv. Tartakover works on various aspects of visual communication with particular emphasis on culture and politics.
He is the author of the Lexicon of Israel's ephemera of the 50's. David Tartakover has curated Israeli design exhibitions for the Tel Aviv Museum of Art and The Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv. His work is included in the permanent collections of museums in Israel and abroad. Tartakover has exhibited in Israel, France, Japan, China, Germany, Poland and Russia and has been awarded numerous international awards such as: Gold Medal, 8th Poster Biennial, Lahti, Finland (1989); Silver Medal, the 13th International Poster Biennial, Lahti, Finland (2001); Second Prize, 9th International Triennale of Political Posters, Mons, Belgium (2004); Grand Prix, Golden Bee 6, Moscow International Graphic Design Biennial (2004).
David Tartakover is the Israel Prize Laureate (2002) and a member of the Alliance Graphique International (AGI).
