Dimitris Mihlis
Dimitris Mihlis presents his latest work at “Kypriaki Gonia” Gallery in Larnaca, depicting a continuous evolutionary course.
He presents scenes with vibrant colours from all the seasons in the year, figures and portraits that emit a positive life energy. His works are inspired by the Cypriot landscape and Cypriot nature in general: trees and tree trunks, flowers in enlargement, seas and skies, including paintings of strong and expressive faces, comprise the artist’s latest and inspired work.
Mihlis was born in Achna, in Famagusta district, in 1954 and studied art at St. Martin’s School of Art in London (B.A. and M.A) with well-known professors such as Poland’s Joseph Herman. When in Cyprus, he worked at the “Art Workshop” in Limassol with his brother Pambos Mihlis and other artists. In 1986, with Garth Frost, he created “The Leaping Lemon”, a shadow theatre. He has presented his work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad.
