Dimitris Regginos - Guitar Recital
The recital is dedicated in memory of the 50th anniversary of Heitor Villa-Lobos' death and will comprise the composer's complete works for solo guitar: Suite Populaire Bresilienne (1908-1912), Chôros No. 1 for solo Guitar (1920), Twelve Études (1929) and Five Préludes (1940)
Classical guitarist Dimitris Regginos studied at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music in Moscow under Alexander Frauchi. He is first-prize winner of such renowned competitions as the International Guitar Biennial Kutná Hora (1996) and the Tokyo International Guitar Competition (1997), and third-prize-winner in the International Guitar Competition in memoriam of Czesław Droździewicz in Krakow (1991) and Albert Augustine International Competition in Bath (1997).
An active recitalist and chamber musician, Regginos has also appeared as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Moscow Chamber Orchestra (State Academic Chamber Orchestra of Russia), the Divertissement Chamber Orchestra in St. Petersburg, and the Ural Symphony Orchestra. His extensive solo and concert repertoire encompasses works by Jοhn Dowland, J.S. Bach, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tarrega, Joaquin Rodrigo, H. Villa-Lobos and Leo Brower, as well as premieres by contemporary composers.
Regginos frequently appears in prominent guitar festivals such as the international festivals of Sofia, Plovdiv, and Velingrad (Bulgaria), Moscow, Ekaterinburg, Belgrade, Kiev, Vilnius and Osaka. He has released three albums and has been chairman of various international guitar festivals and associations.
