Ecopolis Live - Concert with Social Waste / Julio / Bunfyah
Hip hop and reggae live with
+Social Waste - for the first time in Cyprus!
Social waste were founded in 1999 in Crete. Ever since, they've been crafting socio-political hip hop. In their live appearances they combine the special socio-political lyrics of hip hop together with Mediterranean vibes and instruments.
+Julio
Julio is a Cypriot rapper from Limassol. He writes lyrics exclusively in the Cypriot dialect, something that made him stand out within the local music scene. His lyrics are direct and critical, touching sociopolitical issues and inspired by his personal experiences. He is a founding member of Barco Pirata, an artist’s collective that was founded in 2017.
He attends and supports with his music political events such as antifascist demonstrations and events for the protection of the environment. He believes that rap music should not be confined in closed music venues, but it must be accessible to larger audiences, given that its lyrics are embedded in the everyday life and are critical of the sociopolitical context of Cyprus and beyond.
+Bunfyah
Bunfyah is a Reggae band from Famagusta delivering irie vibrations with their unique blend of roots reggae and dub. Formed in 2015, Bunfyah have performed in various live music scenes and festivals throughout the island of Cyprus.
