EFA Awarded films by the Prix UIP 2008 (Limassol)
The Ministry of Education and Culture, ARTos Foundation and the Cyprus University of Technology [C.U.T.] invite short film fans at the Awarded European Short Films Festival.
The nominated short films for the PRIX UIP 2008 of the European Film Academy will be presented at ARTos Foundation in Nicosia on the 17th and 18th September and on the 26th September at C.U.T. in Limassol.
The Prix UIP is an initiative by the United International Pictures [UIP] and the European Film Academy [E.F.A.] in co-operation with fourteen festivals throughout Europe [including the International Short Film Festival in Drama]. At each of the film festivals, EFA and UIP present a Prix UIP which includes a donation of € 2,000 and an automatic nomination in the short film category of the European Film Awards. Out of the nominated films, the EFA members select the winner of the European Film Academy Short Film – Prix UIP, an award which is endowed with € 10,000. The awarded film for 2008 was FRANKIE by Darren Thornton from Ireland.
In 2003, EFA and UIP initiated the SHORT MATTERS! Tour which brings last year’s nominees to a series of European film festivals so that a wider public can once again discover the potential of European short films and their directors.
