Nikos Gatsos: An evening of music and poetry
Each year the Municipality of Larnaka organises a poetry evening dedicated to a famous Cypriot or Greek poet, as part of the programme of its Summer Festival. Thus, in recent years, great poets have been honored such as Seferis, Ritsos, Cavafy, Montis, Michanikos, Elytis, Liasides, Anthias, Vrettakos, Solomos, Lipertis, Valdaserides, Palamas, Pallikaridis, Kavvadias, Michailides and Karyotakis.
This evening is a journey through the lyrics and life of the Greek poet Nikos Gatsos (1914-1992). A combination of poems, stories and narratives, along with the music of great composers such as Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Giorgos Hatzinasios, will lead the audience in a unique aesthetic experience revolving around the poet, his love for Greece and his message for mankind.
