Lecture & Exhibition by Elizabeth Doering
Elizabeth Hoak-Doering, Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia, will present an informal slide lecture about maritime graffiti in Cyprus entitled "Maritime Graffiti - Anonymous Drawings from Medieval to Colonial Cyprus".
These historical images inform her current installation, "Little boats are sailing as ships are sinking", (5-18 March 2015), and open up questions about drawing, anonymity and uncertainty. (The exhibition opens on the 12th of March)
Elizabeth Hoak-Doering (BA Anthropology, MAed., MFA Sculpture) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Nicosia. Her work is shown internationally; recently at The Drawing Center (New York, 2014) and Lisson Gallery (London, 2013).
