Ethno Cyprus 2013
Forty young traditional instrument virtuosos from European and Arab countries (Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq), meet on stage to explore the common cultural identity of European and Arab civilizations.
Having taught each other for 10 days in the framework of the Euro-Arab Youth Music Encounter “Ethno Cyprus 2013”, the young musicians will present a concert program, which combines the sounds of the Mediterranean in a creative and original way. This non-conventional orchestra is led by Andreas Christodoulou.
The Euro-Arab Youth Music Encounter builds upon the success of previous “Ethno Cyprus” music camps, organised by the Limassol Cultural Movement “Epilogi” – Jeunesses Musicales Cyprus, and was carried out in cooperation with Jeunesses Musicales International, the Arab Academy of Music of the Arab League, Jeunesses Musicales of Croatia and Belgium, the Agora Cultural Association from Egypt and the Holy Spirit University Kaslik (USEK) from Lebanon. The project was realised in the framework of the activities initiated by the Euro-Arab Youth Music Centre, which was established in Limassol in September 2012.
