European Eyes on Japan - Japan today
Starting from 1999, the programme has been inviting photographers from two European Capitals of Culture to Japan, in order to document images of people’s way of living in different areas of the country. Thus, particular aspects of everyday life in Japan are recorded by each photographer, in works that are drastically differentiated from stereotypes or the usual images of the media.
At the end of each project, all photographs are exhibited in museums in Japan. For 2017, and in the framework of the European Capital of Culture – Pafos2017, the participating photographers are Ergenc Mehmet Korkmazel and Constantinos Taliotis, while the exhibition is curated by Mikiko Kikuta.
With the support and collaboration of the Cultural Organisation EU-Japan Fest Japan Committee.
