Hand-made Jewelry Exhibition
IT’S (not) ALL NUTS TO ME...Nuts and beads
Tamara’s unique exhibition and workshop of hand-made jewellery in the Pleiades-Gallery in Lania on the weekend of 1st and 2nd of May 2010
Combining stainless steel nuts with beads of ceramics, stones, metal ornaments, glass, acryl and semi-precious beads amongst other materials, Tamara had created an enticing collection of necklaces, bracelets, earrings and key holders. Each single piece is unique and there is none that look the same. By using the different materials Tamara gives the jewellery a modern look of both freshness and simplicity.
The jewellery of nuts and the combination of nuts and beads have a very special appeal, being on the one hand very masculine and on the other hand being both romantic and feminine. Many of the jewellery pieces have a so-called “industrial look” and can also be worn by men, enhancing that very attractive summer tan!
Tamara is a self–taught jewellery maker. Several decades ago, as a student of Archaeology and History in Jerusalem, she financed her studies with jewelry making and which she used to sell the campus. She continued her studies in Anthropology and Folklore in Germany, made her Ph.D. and worked for many years with her husband Tibor, a director and cameraman, producing dozens of documentary films. After retiring they moved to Cyprus and she restarted her jewellery making, adding new techniques and new ideas.
The Pleiades Gallery is located in the centre of Lania. Lania is an artists’ village on the way from Limassol to Troodos.
