The Exhibition of Imaginary Art (Pop-Up Festival)
Imagination is one of the most valuable things we possess. It helps us think beyond where we are and it enriches our lives.
For visitors:
The first thing you’ll see when you enter this gallery space are blank walls.
The second thing you’ll see are titles on the walls.
These are from artists, writers and art lovers all over Europe and beyond provided to inspire you.
This is what you need to do:
• Read a title.
• Sit back and watch as a piece of art emerges in your imagination in whatever way you want.
• If you wish, draw what you ‘see’ with provided materials (or bring your own).
• Or you can simply take the image away for your eyes only …. in your mind.
• When you go, feel welcome to leave a title of your own for the next exhibition.
You’ll be left in peace to take as long as you want to imagine and draw your piece of work.
Lucie Robson is curating The Exhibition of Imaginary Art after being excited by similar exhibitions in Europe and America. She has also been inspired by the economic challenges Cyprus has faced since 2013 as she likes to believe that imagination reminds us of our power and has the potential to get us out of anything – we just need to exercise it.
Finally, she has been inspired by the simple beauty of words and images. She will be onsite during the exhibition aiming to draw or paint every single title in the show.
The Exhibition of Imaginary Art and provided art materials are free-of-charge and is also suitable for children aged 10 upwards.
