The Department of Antiquities, Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, announces that on Monday 18th April 2016, at 18:30 the opening ceremony for the exhibition of painter Lefteris Olympios titled “Falcons at Kolossi” will take place at the Kolossi Medieval Castle. The exhibition, which will be open to the public until the 31st of August, opens within the framework of this year’s celebrations for the International Day for Monuments and Sites, in an event that is under the auspices of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Mr Alecos Michaelides.
In this retrospective exhibition, Lefteris Olympios presents four series of works, inspired by the medieval history of Cyprus recounted in Leontios Machairas’s Chronicle. Through the visual language of Olympios, the audience is called upon to explore the work of the artist together with the monumental setting of the exhibition. Olympios’s exhibition is the first solo exhibition to take place at the monument, marking the importance of the work exhibited.
