FemLink-Art
ARTos Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture and FemLink-Art collective present Fem-Link Art, Cyprus. FemLink-Art is a women artists’ initiative founded by the artists Véronique Sapin (France) and C. M. Judge (USA), with the goal to create an international common artwork that builds a link throughout the world between women artists and their work. FemLink-Art was launched in October 2005 and since then, 145 artists from 63 countries have been invited to take part in it.
The structural principle is simple: one artist per country is invited to create a two minute video on a common topic. Between 24 to 33 videos are included in each topic referred to as «video-collages». From FemLink-Art’s premiere in the US in February 2006 to December 2014, the video-collages have been welcomed by 136 art centers, museums, galleries, and festivals in 42 countries.
FemLink-Art’s video art project is unprecedented, unique both in it’s scope and longevity, in gathering so many artists from around the world with the intention of creating a common artwork.
Since 2005, FemLink-Art launched 9 video-collages:
AGGRESSION, (24 artists - 24 videos - 24 countries - 45 min.)
