Ferenc Snetberger & Dimitris Kotronakis
In the framework of the 7th International Guitar Festival (19-22/4) the European Guitar Teacher’s Association of Cyprus (E.G.T.A Cyprus) is organising a concert by internationally renowned jazz guitarist Ferenc Snetberger and the Greek virtuoso Dimitri Kotronaki.
Ferenc Snetberger born in 1957 in northern Hungary, Guitarist/Composer he was the youngest son of a family of musicians. He studied Classical music and Jazz guitar. Today he is best known for his art of improvising and his crossing of stylistic borders. His music is inspired by the Roma tradition of his home country, Brazilian music and flamenco as well as classical guitar playing and Jazz. He made numerous albums and has toured all over Europe as well as Japan, Korea, India and the United States.
He composed a concerto for Guitar and Orchestra (in Memory of my People), also music for film and theatre. In 2002 he was appointed freeman of his birth town and two years later received the Hungarian Order of Merit. In 2005 he was awarded the Liszt Ferenc Prize in Budapest. He co-operated with legendary musicians in many concerts and places.
Dimitris Kotronakis was born in Heraklion , Crete (Greece), in 1973.
His studies on Classical Guitar began at the age of seven. He obtained the Guitar diploma and Α΄prize, under the guidance of Kanaras. He continued his post-graduating studies under supervision of Costas Kotsiolis. Meanwhile, he further expanded his theoretical musical knowledge obtaining diploma in Musicology and Fugue.
He has performed as a soloist in numerous guitar recitals in Greece, Europe and USA and has been awarded many prizes in international Guitar competitions.
He has so far recorded various cd’s.He teaches guitar in the International Conservatory of Athens.
He is considered as one of the most prominent Guitarists of his genre.
