Music Day - Fête de la Musique 2014

Completely different from a music festival, the Fête de la Musique is above all a free popular fête, open to any participant (amateur or professional musicians) who wants to perform in it. This Music day allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere.

This year the French Institute, in partnership with the Aglantzia Municipality, invites you to a concert of the Cypriot Group M. Doumani and of the French group Peter Alexander Band among others.

Celtic, Cajun blues or country roots, here are the main ingredients of this rock sung in French. The five musicians band (bass, drums, guitars, violin, keyboard) native from the Paris area (77), has more than 1,500 concerts and first part of shows (Jethro Tull, Blue Oyster Cult, Paul Rogers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Cash, Deep Purple, Molly Hatchet, ZZ Top ...) to his credit. Founded in 1987 by the Lucas brothers, the band released late May 2014 his seventh album entitled "A Night in Hell."

Monsieur Doumani was formed in 2011 in Nicosia by Antonis Antoniou (tzouras), Angelos Ionas (guitar) and Demetris Yiasemides (wind instruments). Although each member of Monsieur Doumani comes from a different musical background all three are influenced by Cypriot folklore on various levels.

In May 2013 Monsieur Doumani released its first full-length album entitled 'Grippy Grappa', which gained them a nomination for 'Best Newcomer' in the acclaimed Songlines Music Awards 2014.
Their live appearances in festivals and small venues in Cyprus and abroad have been very well-received by diverse audiences and their music has been broadcasted and presented on radio stations around the globe, such as BBC, Radio France, Sveriges Radio, RootsWorld, StadsFM Amsterdam,TLV1 Tel Aviv, PBS FM Melbourne, etc.
