Figura Nova
Alpha Gallery, in cooperation with Zmart Gallery, present the group exhibit Figura Nova. The exhibit opens Friday, 9 October at 7:00 p.m.
The central theme of this exhibit is the human figure, a subject that has interested artists since the beginning of time. The artists participating in this exhibit comprise a carefully selected group. Each artist is well-kown for his and her work with the human figure. The artist represented in the exhibit are: Alex Vayianos, Lia Voyatzi, Andreana Kampanela,Andreas Karayian, Paul Kouroussis, Konstantinos Kyrtis, Andreas Makariou, Toula Mala, Andreas Nicolaou, Andreas Paraskevas, Alexander Savaroff, Zenon Jepras, Andreas Charalambous, and Glyn Hughes.
In these works, each artist expresses his view on the role of human existence in the contemporary culture. In certain works, the central theme refers to Greek mythology and others to the renaissance. Others are simply the artist’s need for simplicity and the abstraction of the figure. The exhibit offers the viewer an introduction into the role of the figure in art and the many ways the artists expresses this role.
