Graphic Stories Cyprus conference returns for its 5th edition, 15-17 March 2019.
The 5th consecutive Conference on Graphic Design and Visual Communication in Cyprus, Graphic Stories Cyprus, opens its doors for another creative weekend from 15 - 17 of March 2019. Graphic Stories Cyprus is an institution that has been established in the last five years in the field of visual communication but also to the consciousness of the creative professionals and students of Cyprus and abroad. The conference was selected by the European Festivals Association (EFA) as one of the best festivals in Europe and was awarded the Europe’s quality stamp, EFFE Label, for the period 2019-2020. The EFFE Label Award is awarded every two years to the remarkable art festivals that show their commitment to the arts, community involvement and international reach. The EFFE (Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe) is an initiative launched by the European Union Festival (EFA) and supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament.
Lectures
One of the main objectives of the conference, is the transmission of specialized knowledge and experience from the lecturers to the public, as well as the two-way interaction with it. Within this logic, the 5th Conference on Graphic Design and Visual Communication, Graphic Stories Cyprus, will host on Friday 15 March 2019, ten (10) distinguished professionals in the field, from Cyprus and abroad, for its scheduled lectures, which will be hosted at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation in Nicosia. David Carson, Yiannis Charalambopoulos and Ilias Pantikakis from Beetroot Design Group, Irini Gonou, Charis Tsevis, Vladimir Radibratovic, Yiorgos Tsangaris, Konstantinos Kambouroglou, Costas Mantzalos, Sotos Voskarides - BOSS and Costis Papatheodorou will cover a wide range of Visual Communication, highlighting the present and exploring its future.
Book presentation
Graphic Stories began as an idea that became reality, became a weekly newspaper column, a meeting, a conference, a journey. And the long journey became a book ... Book or album? Album, which keeps within its 256 pages the best fragrance of all these years! The best times that wrote their own [Graphic] story! Aggeliki Athanasiadis's album entitled "Graphic Stories - Γραφιστορίες", will be presented to the public for the first time, as part of the lectures of the 5th Conference on Graphic Design and Visual Communication in Cyprus by the well-known visual designer Charis Tsevis and the journalist Apostolos Kouroupakis.
Workshops
Three specialized workshops for professionals and higher education students will be held during this year's event to provide an accumulated and professional level of knowledge and experience in relation to contemporary design and visual communication practices as well as two creative workshops for children. Calligraphy by Vladimir Radibratovic, Handmade natural tools, traces and writing by Irini Gonou, Digital illustration of a realistic portrait by Costis Papatheodorou, Caricature Workshop by Sotos Voskarides - BOSS and Challenging the perception by Panayiota Michael.
Exhibition
"Graphic Design, Challenging the Perception", is the title of the exhibition that will include the 50 distinguished artworks of the 3nd international poster contest organized by Graphic Stories Cyprus. The exhibition will be hosted by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, at Faneromeni and it will also include the artwork of 16 distinguished creators, that were invited for that purpose. The contest attended 820 artists from 27 countries all over the world, including Cypriot designers, visual communication higher education students as well as high school students. The inauguration of the exhibition as well as the award ceremony for the winners will take place on Friday 15 of March, 2019, after the completion of the scheduled lectures. The prizes of the contest are offered by the Bank of Cyprus together with the Greek font company Parachute Fonts.
Documentary
"How to steal a chair" is the title of the Documentary by the director Konstantinos Kambouroglou that will be screened on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 18:30 at the Cultural Foundation of the Bank of Cyprus and is about the story of the well-known designer Stergios Delialis and the legendary Design Museum of Thessaloniki.

The conference is addressed to all creative professionals in the field of visual communication, applied and visual arts, professionals or students, graphic designers, web designers, illustrators, photographers, animators, 2D/3D designers, typographers, creative agencies, advertisers, marketers, and those who are interested in getting to know the profession of visual communication designer!
