Green Monday Feast
The first day of Lent is a day of joy, laughter and vegetarian picnics in all the island.
Green Monday is followed by a fifty day fasting period, during which Christians prepare themselves to receive the Redeemer, shunning meat and dairy products and living on a vegetarian diet.
Events and activities take place in all towns and villages:
Agia Napa: Cape Greco
Larnaka: Tekke Grove
Pafos: Kato Pafos (Faros Beach)
Pervolia village (Larnaka District): Rigena Medieval Tower (tel.:+357 24 423 330)
Polis: Polis Municipal Beach
In Larnaka the feast is taking place at Tekke Grove and it is organised by Larnaka Municipality.
Programme:
11:00 - 15:00
Traditional music and dances by the Cyltural Folkloric Society "Vasilitzia".
14:00 - 16:00
Traditional games and folk competitions
Mascots, ballon modelling, face painting.
Wine, beer, zivania, traditional saracost bread and halva will be offered!
