Greetings from Greece
This season, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra presents Greetings from Greece, transporting us to its landscapes and rythms through the music of Konstantinos Grigoriou, Nikos Skalkottas and Mikis Theodorakis, featuring award-winning saxophonist Theodore Kerkezos, nominated twice by Naxos label at the 50th Grammy Awards and described by Gramophone magazine as “one of the most astounding performers of our days”. With saxophone music, we will also travel to Russia and Spain, with composers Alexander Glazunov and Pedro Iturralde respectively.

Glazunov: Concerto in E flat major for alto saxophone and string orchestra, op. 109
Skalkottas: Five Greek Dances for string orchestra
Theodorakis: Greek concerto for alto saxophone and orchestra (arr.: G. Sambrovalakis)
Iturralde: Pequeña Czarda for alto saxophone and orchestra (orch.: Havier Iturralde, adaptation for the CySO: Th. Kerkezos)
