Heart of a Dog

The legendary play "Heart of a Dog" by Mikhail Bulgakov will be presented to the Cyprus audience in the framework of the project "Russian Theatre Seasons in Cyprus"

The language of the performance is Russian. Subtitles in Greek and English.

The novel "The Heart of a Dog" by the great classic of Russian literature, Mikhail Bulgakov, does not need an additional introduction. All Russian compatriots, first of all from the film of the same name, are well aware of the novel about the physiological experiment of Professor Preobrazhensky, as a result of which the homeless dog named Sharik turned into a person, named Polygraph Poligrafovich Sharikov and the events that followed.

Especially so that Cypriot viewers who do not speak Russian can get acquainted with this pearl of Russian literature, the play will be shown with subtitles in Greek and English.

The play "Heart of a Dog" is not a complete repetition of the film. It contains a number of innovate elements by Vladimir Kuznetsov, the talented theatre director working in the Vladimir Academic Drama Theater,

The characters are really colorful, as Bulgakov used to create. In the role of Professor Preobrazhensky – the People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the Russia Government- Nikolai Gorokhov. Frightening with his animal behavior, Sharikov, is performed by the stunning performance of Alexander Aladyshev, a versatile young artist in the record of which is even reaching the final of the youth music contest MTV Russia in 2014.

The artists hold the intrigue to the very end, forcing the viewer to empathize, to hate, to think and to be afraid. With such a play, the almost 3 hours of performance fly by like an instant.
