Lifelong Learning Programme Comenius

Paliometocho Lyceum M. Koutsofta – A. Panagidi from Cyprus, Colegiul National Gheorghe Lazar from Romania and Zespol Szkol “Silesia” from Poland, are cooperating within a Comenius multilateral partnership fro the years 2009-2011, on a project titled “Interaction Event – History – Literature in European Societies throughout the 20th century”.

The objectives of the partnership focus on the historical and cultural heritage of each participating country throughout the 20th century and on developing the sense of belonging to the European community. Through this partnership both the similarities and differences between the countries involved will be pinpointed.

07/06/2010 - Under the Stars
A road movie dealing with the lives of two Greek Cypriots whose lives have been torn apart by the Turkish invasion of the island in 1974. Twenty-six years after the invasion, Lukas lives a hermit's life in the divided city of Nicosia, haunted by memories of the past. Like Lukas, Phoebe is a child of the war, but unlike him she refuses to dwell on painful memories. Instead, she lives for the present, working as a smuggler, trading goods with Greeks and Turks on both sides of the island. Tempted by an offer of cash, Phoebe reluctantly agrees to escort Lukas back to his family village on the Turkish occupied territories. Along the way, this odd couple fights, argues and confronts their personal demons. Ultimately, they will find a way to move forward into the future.

This drama from Cyprus concerns two sisters whose father has been presumed dead since Turkish forces invaded their nation in 1974. However, when they receive word that their father may be alive in Turkey, they set out to find him. Wavering between courage and fear, the sisters find themselves wandering through a strange and unfamiliar land, looking for a man who may not want to be found.
