DissemiNation is a collective initiated by 6 international artists: Demetra and Nurtane from Cyprus, Holly from Ireland, Kyehyoung from S.Korea, Pipat from Thailand and Umberto from Malta. The collective aims at exploring the potentials and limitations of long-distance collaborations and creating a cross-national and beyond-border artistic fusion. ‘Home’ is their second collective exhibition and marks the beginning of a series of exhibitions taking place in the native country of each member of the group.
The exhibition explores the term ‘Home’ as a broader concept also meaning a feeling of comfort, stability, quotidianity (a space where you feel at home), but at the same time the search for a place where one belongs and where the sense of self lies; ‘home’ which is eventually found in the image of the ‘other’, the ‘foreigner’. The exhibition features a number of different mediums including live performances, video art, photography and painting.
With the end of the exhibition at The Loukia & Michael Zampelas Art Museum, the art works will be taken down and will be carried along on a foot journey across the Ledras crossing point in old Nicosia. This will serve as an introduction to the second part of ‘DissemiNations’ Cyprus endeavor; a film screening of the documentation of this journey will be screened in a one-night-only exhibition. The exhibition will take place at Efruz, Apartment No. 13, 5th Floor of Müniroğlu Apartments in Nicosia.
