The Imaginary Invalid
The President of the European Theatre Convention Jean-Claude Berutti is directing Molière’s “The Imaginary Invalid” which will open the season for the Cyprus Theatre Organisation’s Main Stage.
While working with an exemplary cast and renowned artists, the director’s artistc work plan is, as he explains, better described by Louis-Ferdinand Céline’s quote on comedy “A good play must always be liberating”.
The Imaginary Invalid (French: Le Malade imaginaire) is a three-act comédie-ballet by the French playwright Molière. It was first performed in 1673 and was the last work he wrote. In an ironic twist of fate, Molière collapsed during his fourth performance as Argan on 17 February and died soon after.
