Kali Yuga (Iron Age)
Kali Yuga is a Sanskrit term for the period that we current live in for some thousands of years now and which is supposed to reach its end soon to be replaced by a Golden Age.
The term Iron Age is certainly metaphorical and it does not refer only to the vast number of metal objects that surround us but also to the low level of human consciousness prevailing today.
The next level, that ancient writings and people of higher level of spirituality pass on to us, is a golden age of much higher level of consciousness all over the planet.
Looking around we can easily verify that we really live in an age where a casual use of values and objects prevails and one that begs urgently for ecological consciousness as well as rising of the general level of human consciousness.
With these paintings and drawings I tried to give the viewer a taste of this age that we live in and was inspired by the heaps of unused vehicles which, once were objects of desire and now are abandoned in various scrap yards around the cities.
For an artist, beauty exists everywhere in nature even in these mountains of scrap metal. With my brush I tried to show the beauty that exists in these places and at the same time to convey an air of nostalgia and optimism.
