Jhiva - In Body
Jhiva means the immortal part of us; that which lives before we are born and continues to live after we die. But what does this immortal part of us do while we go about our everyday lives?
Combining live action, multimedia and physical expression, ‘Jhiva – In Body’ traces the life of the famous philosopher, Frederich Nietzsche through the eyes of the “immortal” within him. A hunter of truth, who came very close to enlightenment but collapsed due to lack of faith. What would change in our lives if we could believe in this part of us which lives on after we are gone?
Theatro Transcendental concerns itself solely with themes and theories which positively promote human consciousness, using the power of the image, the live example on stage, music, physical expression and symbolic connotations. The themes arise from eastern philosophy, ancient Greek philosophy and modern psychology.
The company’s first production, ‘the room of unlimited possibilities’, after touring Cyprus in both Greek and English, travelled to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received very positive reviews from both audiences and critics. “Through dance and music they give dramatic form to the most elusive of truths." one critic writes. In order to make the connection with its audience stronger, Theatro Transcendental also offers weekly Transcendental workshops for children and adults hoping to fortify and embody the company’s aims.
