Juggling Workshop

Among The Ants invites Defracto company in Cyprus to lead a juggling workshop and perform an abstract of their new production, Flaque.

Juggling Workshop: Explorations in technique and creativity from the award winning art group Cie. Defracto | Guillaume Martinet (France).

A two-day intense workshop for professional and amateur artists
to introduce graphical and rhythmical vision of juggling.

The aim of this approach is to allow students to find their creative dynamic, through the methodical repetition of fundamental techniques and explorations of abstract movement.

Guillaume Martinet first taught himself to juggle before training at Le Lido / Centre des Arts du Cirque in Toulouse. He founded Cie Defracto in 2008 with Minh Tam Kaplan and Audrey Jacquiot. With his solo, called Cinétique TOC, he won a prize medal at the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain, and the company is a selected project of Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe with the project Circuits Fermés. Defracto will premiere the creation of their new piece Flaque diring First Attempt, with a work-in-progress presentation on the 12th October at Ermou square, Larnaca.

The workshop is part of FIRST ATTEMPT, a 3-day art project by Among the Ants planned for Larnaca with the support of the municipality, and in collaboration with local art s and educational institutions. FIRST ATTEMPT will take place on 12th – 14th October with activities for audiences of all ages, including artist meetings, live performances & workshops for children and adults.
