Karnatic music in everyday music
Windcraft Music Centre organises seminars with the internationally recognized Cypriot composer on the subject:
Karnatic (South Indian) music and its application on everyday music practicing, composing and improvising.
Karnatic music, and the way it can be applied to education, has so much richness and lends simplicity to the most complicated issues we face today: from performing a simple quintuplet to the most complicated polyrhythmic structures.
This first cycle of masterclasses will offer a short introduction in Karnatic music and its basic principles and concepts. The Ghatis (rhythmic structure) system will be explained, as well as how polyrhythms (Jathis) can be created with them. All these will be presented in accordance with Tala (metre) and will be explained in such a way that they can be applied in everyday music practice.
Appropriate for all kind of musicians, dancers, actors and anyone involved with music.
