Learning 2 Fly
Art Exhibition by Michalis Onisiforou.
Trying to touch with my paint the great figures of music going by the name of Pink Floyd is one of the greatest challenges of my life. As a (street) artist I have learned to take on challenges and give my best to try to allow for the allegorical trip to be realised.
Somewhere around here the first difficulties arise, as my dare of balancing on the creative string is in debt to treating with the necessary respect the creators but also to preserve the natural spontaneity, the ambiguous deep meanings, the sarcasm that bubbles up from the lyrics of Pink Floyd and the magical tension which their music gives rise to.
The 30 songs that I have chosen to convey on paper constitute important stations in my life and have influenced or better shaped my character to the point that I consider them partly "mine" and I hope through the work I have created to trigger the process of them becoming "yours" as well!
The overall title of my work "Learning 2 Fly" constitutes another challenge and is illustrative of an internal evolutionary process that pulls us, every moment, towards our life becoming real life. If we find ourselves at some moment in the unworldly position to comprehend the higher, in my opinion, lyrical moment of Pink Floyd and al that the phrase "“there is no dark side of the moon really, matter of fact it’s all dark” includes, we would fulfill ourselves as (human) beings.
In closing, I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart Syd, Richard, Nick, David and Roger for the perpetual musical trips that they have offered to me and to millions of Pink Floyd fans.
