Lefki Alexandrou - Emotions

The Pantheon Gallery invites you to the opening of the solo mixed media exhibition by artist Lefki Alexandrou entitled "Emotions" on Friday 7th of January 2010, 8:00pm.

Few words from the artist:
“Emotions are an important matter, which affect everyone. I express all kinds of emotions through my paintings and sculptures; sadness, happiness, emotions associated with break-ups/ separation and all the stages that follow from a break-up/ separation and the strength and willingness that someone can find after hitting rock bottom. I used mixed media so as to show these different feelings and senses.

Most of my paintings are done using oil paints so that they can express more emotions. My sculptures are made with specific materials so that they can give importance to each emotion. I used materials that are contrasting to each other like glass, steel, raisin, plaster. Glass can express the feeling of devastation, but on the other hand, steel shows strength. By using raisin I wanted to capture the combination of the two materials and how strong they can be and work together. Finally, via plaster I wanted to show the marks that a break-up can leave behind and its effect on the human mind, spirit and body. That’s why I used many techniques and materials because every one of us is different and have different emotions in certain circumstances of our lives”.
