Painting Exhibition of Leonidas & Petros Papasavvas
On Saturday 23 November 2013 at 7.30pm an exhibition of Leonidas and Petros Papasavvas will open at Tehnis Dromena Gallery, 53 Arch. Kyprianou Street, Strovolos, Nicosia.
LEONIDAS PAPASAVVAS
Leonidas Papassavas was born in Pano Amiantos in 1947 and studied in the National Metsovio Polytechnic, Athens.
In Cyprus he studied Painting under Telemachos Kanthos and Lefteris Economou. He also studied Painting at Kate Stephanidou’s Art Lab and at King Richard School in Dhekelia, under Professor and painter Michael Westall.
He is a member of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (EKATE) and of IAA.
In 2010 he won the 1st prize in Painting in the Pancyprian Art Competition, organized by the University of Cyprus, School of Philology, and the Telemachos Kanthos Foundation.
In 2011 he won two prizes in the Painting Competition with subject-matter “Maniera Cypria, Troodos, Nature and People”.
In 2012 he won the 3rd prize in Painting in the National Art Competition organized by the International Olympic Committee with subject-matter “Sports and the Olympic Values of Superiority, Friendship and Respect”.
Leonidas Papassavas has had 8 solo exhibitions and has taken part in many group exhibitions organized by the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (EKATE) since 1992.
PETROS PAPASSAVAS
Petros Papassavas was born in Nicosia in 1953. He graduated from the Pancyprian Gymnasium in 1972 and, after completing his military service in 1974, he entered the School of Agronomists and Mechanical Surveyors of the National Metsovio Polytechnic. He graduated in 1979.
While in Athens he took Drawing and Water painting lessons. In Cyprus he took Drawing and colour painting lessons at Kate Stepanidou’s Painting Lab in Nicosia
from 1992 to 1995.
Petros Papassavas worked overseas for many years (Oman, Algeria, Pakistan, Dubai, Bahrain), therefore many of his works contain scenes from the everyday life and landscape of the above countries. In 1986 he became a member of the Bahrain Chamber of Fine Arts. He is also an active member of the Cyprus Chamber of Fine Arts (EKATE). The artist has basically been living and working in Cyprus since 1990 and has dealt with all painting materials. However the material he loves and deals with most is water painting. He is also professionally involved in Sketch Advertising, mainly colour perspective.
Petros Papassavas has had 8 solo exhibitions and has participated in 20 group exhibitions. His works are found in Public Galleries and in private collections.
The exhibition will be open until 5th of December and on the following days and hours:
Monday-Friday 10.00-13.00, 17.00-20.00
Saturday 10.00-13.00
