Leontios Toumpouris
Leontios Toumpouris’ solo show titled "We are becoming the thing on which we are working" consists of new works, sculptural wall installations and a series of paintings.
- Can the object ultimately bear in its form the artist’s flexibility?
- The mutability of matter is perceived through the processes specified and applied by the artist. The various ways in which the process is projected is something under constant negotiation in my work. As one who handles and reads matter, I feel the need to discern gestures and eventualities. I take it for granted that there is a vacillating relationship between subject and object due to the constant handling of matter, manipulative or respectful, and hence to the constant shift between artist and work as to who guides the process. Matter defines and limits, just as the artist defines and limits.
Excerpt from the publication "We are becoming the thing on which we are working - the conversations" released on the occasion of the exhibition in collaboration with Lito Kattou and Elena Parpa.
Opening hours: Monday - Saturday 17.00 - 21.00
