The Libation Bearers - Thessalian Theatre (Paphos)
The Thessalian Theatre, one of Greece’s top companies, will perform Aescylus’ ‘The Libation Bearers’ the second of a trilogy of tragedies.
Also known as ‘Choephorae’, in the Libation Bearers, Orestes avenges his father’s murder by putting to death his mother until Athena puts an end to the long train of crime and vengeance which had desolated the royal house of Atreus.
Directed by Kostas Tsianos, this production of the Thessalian Theatre brings onstage one of Greece’s most acclaimed actresses, Lydia Koniordou, in the roles of Electra and Cletemnestra.
This performance is part of the 13th International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama.
