Living Beings - The Evolution

Elina Partheniou presents her Solo Exhibition at Kyriazis Medical Museum in Larnaka, under the auspices of the Mayor of Larnaka Mr Andreas Vyras.

The Opening of the Exhibition will be held by the significant visual artist Mr Andreas Ladommatos, on 20th February 2019, at 20:00.

Elina Partheniou was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1988. She recently moved from Scotland and currently lives and works in Larnaka, Cyprus.

In 2005, she was awarded the 1st place in the entrance examinations of the Athens School of Fine Arts and succeeded the category of rightful special artistic inclination (talents). She studied Fine Arts with Major in Painting at the Athens School of Fine Arts from which she graduated with a Distinction (2006-2011). She studied the art of Drawing and Painting with master Art Instructors Panos Charalambous and Michalis Manoussakis. Also, the art of Mosaic was studied with the master Art Instructor Daphne Angelidou. Furthermore, Elina holds a Master’s degree in Painting & Secondary School Art Education from the same University.

The idea of the series of artworks ‘‘Living Beings’’ stems from the vicious circle of life: this begins from the fertilisation but never comes to an end. The proof lies in places of decay, the real source of life. Elina had to examine several of these living forms under the detailed eye of a lab microscope to better understand their interactions. On her artworks, she attempts to bring these biological interactions to life by reproducing them and expanding them on paper. By using mixed media and materials such as graphite and coloured pencils, illustrates how these living beings multiply and expand through different shapes, volumes, lines, textures and tones. As materials come together on paper, magnetic fields are created and that is where the microcosm of living beings starts to "activate".

With the unique detailed art style that identifies her artworks, she took part in more than 37 Group and Solo exhibitions, both in Cyprus and internationally. Moreover, Elina Partheniou has received numerous prizes and awards throughout the years. Her artworks can be seen in private and public collections in Cyprus, Greece, United Kingdom, Egypt and Italy.
