Maria Trillidou - Communion
OM is the primordial sound which acoustically forms the word Communion, the title of Maria Trillidou’s new art proposal, suggesting a kind of communication beyond words, carrying the notion of multidimensional union.
Watercolor drawings on paper, present beings in the form of animals, the roles of which remain enigmatic. The familiar forms extend and transform, parts of their bodies are cast away to reemerge, joined with other elements beginning from and returning to themselves as recreated entities, participants in a wider plexus.
Relating to this work of Trillidou, the Art Historian Thalea Stephanidou writes:
A collection of drawings were the artist transmits images which describe what we would call a topography of the Neptunian energy.
Figuratively realistic references interwoven with unpredictable elements of alteration, define a territorial map within an undefined ‘transparency’ which seems to set up a non consumed space, working with its sovereign powers of entropy and enthalpy.
Resembling symbolic alchemical images describing forms in process of transmutation, or like harmonic compositional rhythms focusing on archetypal symbols, Maria Trillidou organizes her universe, revealing her own internal necessity of non-conforming to linear-time narratives.
Exhibition opens on Friday, 12th of December at 19:00.
