Mariza Bargilly - Walkthrough

The artist Mariza Bargilly presents her fourth solo exhibition titled "Walkthrough" at the Centre of Contemporary Art Diatopos.

Mariza Bargilly was born in Athens in 1975 and studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts where she graduated with honours. Mariza was specialized in theatre stage design.

She then returned to Cyprus where she has been working as a stage and costume designer for both theatre and cinema and as an independent visual artist and educator. She has worked with almost all the established theatres in Cyprus including the Cyprus Theatre Organisation – THOC (National Theatre), ETHAL, Τheatre ENA, SKALA theatre and DIONYSOS theatre.

Mariza has also presented three solo painting exhibitions (OPUS 39 gallery 2002 and 2006 and IS NOT GALLERY 2010). She has also participated in various group exhibitions in Cyprus and abroad. Some of her stage and costume design work has been presented in local stage design exhibitions “Sti Mpouka” 2006 and “35 Years of Stage Design Creation” of the Cyprus Theatre Organisation 2007.

She has also presented her stage design work at Prague Quadrennial in 2007, as part of the Cyprus exhibition. Mariza’s work has also been selected and presented in the World Stage Design 2009 in Seoul, Korea during September 2009.

Mariza Bargilly’s costume designs for the short film “Helmets” by George Koukoumas received a distinction in the Drama Short Film Festival in 2009.

The exhibition opens on Friday, November 8th at 20:00.
