Meet Plantu
Plantu is a French cartoonist specializing in political satire. He published his first editorial cartoon in Le Monde in October 1972, about the Vietnam war. He has illustrated the front page daily since 1985. From 1980 to 1986, he also worked with Phosphore magazine and since 1997, he publishes one page in the weekly magazine L'Express. After meeting in Paris with Kofi Annan (Secretary-General of the UN and Nobel Peace Prize winner in 2001), they create the Cartooning for Peace organization in 2006, in order to defend editorial cartoonist's freedom of expression throughout the world. Cartooning for Peace counts more than 100 editorial cartoonists.
He will be in Cyprus on the occasion of an exhibition of his drawings; we invite you to meet him on Friday, January 16 2015 at 7:00pm at the House of Journalists, 12 CyBC (RIK) Aglantzia Avenue, Nicosia.
The meeting will take place in English and French language.
