Melodies and Rhythms of Nature Workshop
In nature we see infinite cycles in our day to day life, whether they are in our body or in the daily, weekly, monthly or yearly cycles. Night and day, high and low tides, seasons changing, the cycles of growth from seed to tree and seed again. These are all the creative play and display of creativity and intelligence in nature.
Music is also cyclical and resonates with the impulses of creation which structure our universe. The art and science of Gandharva Veda restores balance and harmony in nature through the specific Rags (melodies and rhythms) for particular times of day or night and for specific seasons.
This workshop will describe more about the theory of Gandharva Veda music and provide experience of these rags, as well as an opportunity to learn to play Gandharva Veda music.
Reshma Srivastava Pizanis is a well-known teacher of Gandharva Veda music and a reknown Sitar performer. She will be offering this workshop for all interested in learning more.
