Memories
Agia Napa Municipality invites you to the viewing of the anti-war documentary Memories on Sunday 22nd July 2012 at the Agia Napa Central Square, at 9:00p.m.
About the documentary:
In 2008, the author Panikos Neokleous released his book ‘’MISSING 1974’’ in which many Greek-Cypriot soldiers who were in the front line of the war, described what they had experienced.
One of the 50 witnesses of the book, was that of John Maratheftis, who was injured on the head, but managed to survive.
A year later, the book was translated into Turkish. A Turkish-Cypriot, named Fetshi Akintzi, by reading the book, realized that he was the one who had shot John on the head. For 35 years now, he considered John dead.
Fetchi called the author, who arranged a meeting between the two men. They met and some minutes later they became friends and peace activists.
Few months ago, the author Panikos Neokleous, in collaboration with John and Fetchi, made a documentary based on the story.
The author, John and Fetchi will attend the event and will answer any questions.
