Metamorphoses (Paphos)
Based on Metamorphoses by Ovid, Magdalena Zira adapted the wonderful myths ensembled in the Roman poems to present this new play for the ThoC’s Experimental Stage. The myths of Orpheus and Euridice, Alcyone and Ceyx, Cephalus and Procris, Echo and Narcissus, Philemon and Baucis, come to life onstage with a modern text and contemporary style. Using a tender narrative, sharp sense of humour and directness, the play tells the astonishing love stories of the characters who suffer from lust and loss. The world of Metamorphoses is constantly changing from tragic to ironic, from comic to romantic.
