MicroOptasies - Myrianthe Sozou
As from 18 March, Gallery Morfi in Limassol (www.morfi.org) presents the latest work of Myrianthe Sozou.
Myrianthe Sozou is an emerging fine artist living and working between London and Limassol, Cyprus. Born in London in 1987, she studied BA(Hons) Fine Art (2011) and MA Art and Science (2013), both at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
Sozou has returned to Cyprus to launch ‘a | m studio’, which is a shared studio / gallery space where she creates and exhibits her works.
Working with a wide range of media, Sozou’s body of work is focused on a sculptural and spatial approach to art. In her site specific installations, she maintains the honesty and aesthetics of simple industrial mass materials and explores their 'micro-macro' elements, as well as their reflective, distortive and ultimately alienating qualities. As metaphors for the workings of the visual system, the works play with one's vision and human perception whilst adhering to a somewhat minimal formal stringency.
She has exhibited in galleries and institutions such as the British Library and the Victoria & Albert Museum and one of her works is on a permanent display at Foyles bookstore in Soho, London. Works of Sozou are found in private collections in Europe.
Currently, Sozou is preparing for her upcoming participation in a group exhibition at the Wakehurst Millennium Seed Bank of Kew Gardens in the UK.
The exhibition shall remain open until 29 March.
