Miranda Returns
The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela organizes the screening of the Venezuelan movie "Miranda Returns" by Luis Alberto Lamata.
Miranda Returns tells the story of Francisco de Miranda, a soldier who led three revolutions and played a key part in events leading to Venezuela’s declaration of independence from Spain in 1811. This swashbuckling tale glorifies his struggle, drawing attention to Miranda’s dream of a united South America.
A journalist accesses illegally the cell of Fransisco Miranda, a strong supporter of the independence and the sovereignty of the nations, in order to convince him to give an interview. Miranda was suspicious of the impetuous guy at first but he gradually managed to win his trust… At that moment a retrospective journey of the life of the "First Universal Venezuelan" started; the journey of a man "who within his chest carries the sacred fire of love for freedom", as Napoleon Bonaparte said.
