Monsieur Doumani & Howa Jani Project of Neta Elkayam
In an attempt to open a cultural dialogue with the countries neighbouring Cyprus, the local band Monsieur Doumani has invited the Howa Jani Project from Jerusalem for an interesting twofold concert. The Howa Jani Project led by Neta Elkayam has achieved much recognition in the recent years and represents the new generation of musicians in Israel. Based in Jerusalem, they revisit in their own distinct way the traditional music of North Africa with emphasis on the music of the Moroccan Jews. The Cypriot group Monsieur Doumani is also known for its innovative approach to the traditional music of Cyprus and have already established a name on the international world music scene. The result of their cooperation is a musical encounter with an intense Mediterranean flavour.
