My Mother Medea
THOC begins the new season with the play "My Mother Medea" of the Austrian playwright Holger Schober, directed by Susannah Tresilian.
The new kids with the strange names have arrived and they sit in front of the class, supposed to be introducing themselves. Always on the run, away from home before even knowing the word home. Away from the familiar language, away from friends, away from everything that was important. Medea’s children are telling the story how they experienced it, how they understood it. So, a completely new picture of the myth is offered, and Jason and Medea are once pulled out of the fable-environment, which turned them into larger-than-life characters. They are presented as what they are in the first place: parents. Parents, who are making mistakes, but who keep being parents, regardless how much they are running away from it.
Translated from German into Greek by Giorgos Neophetou.
