Musical Bouquet - Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra under the artistic direction of Ayis Ioannides presents 2 concerts titled “Musical Bouquet” with works by Bach, Haydn and Stravinsky. Among others, we will hear the 2nd Suite for Orchestra by Stravinsky, the Concerto for Cembalo and Orchestra in D minor by Bach, with soloists Constantinos Karvelos (piano) and Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 (“Clock”).

The programme is prepared during the Annual Spring Music School of the Cyprus Youth Symphony Orchestra at the Pedoulas Gymnasium. Participants at the school are members of the Orchestra and some students from the Music Workshop. The School's activities include training on instruments of the symphony orchestra, training of wind orchestra, as well as intensive rehearsals on the repertoire of the concerts.

The first concert will take place on Saturday 30 April 2011 at Larnaca Municipal Theatre, under the music direction of Ayis Ioannides and Finnish guest conductor Kalervo Kulmala. The concert is organized with the Larnaka Festival of Classical Music 2011. The second concert will take place on Monday 2 May 2011 at Pallas Theatre, Nicosia. Both concerts start at 8:30 pm. Entrance is free to the public.
