My Lefkara by Toulla Paphitis
Painting exhibition by Toulla Paphitis with the title "My Lefkara".
The exhibition will be opened by Mr. Sofoklis Sofokleous, Member of European Parliament, on Monday, 19 May 2014 at 8.00 p.m.
“Lefkara” is a series of works inspired by the picturesque village and its’ rich historical culture. Childhood memories and family ties have further influenced the creation of these art pieces. Intricate handmade lace, dating back to the 12th century, the luminous colours, and natural beauty of Lefkara are what the artist wanted to convey through her paintings. Focusing on specific areas which capture these elements, resulted in an intimate visual portrayal of the Lefkara she relates to in her mind.
Toulla Paphitis was born and raised in England. After studying Graphic Design at Βlackpool College of Αrt & Design, she worked as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator in England for 5 years and then in Cyprus for 11 years. Painting and drawing have always played a major role in her life and continuous studies and practice in the Fine Arts led to a Masters Degree in Fine Arts (Distinction) from Northampton University via Cyprus College of Art in 2011. She continues to live and work as an artist in Cyprus. Toulla has participated in various group exhibitions with this being her first solo Exhibition in Cyprus.
