Nanor Tashdjian - "Ocean Deep"
Nanor was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. She is a graduate of Frederick University in Nicosia with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Arts & Design. She continued with her post graduate studies at the University of Wales in Cardiff, obtaining her Master's degree in Fine Arts in 2002. Nanor has presented her work in many solo and group exhibitions internationally. She has exhibited in the UK, Cyprus, Sydney and Bangkok.
She will be presenting her most recent work at the Opus 39 gallery in Nicosia in an exhibition entitled “Ocean Deep”. The ocean theme is prevalent in most of the work. Colourful fish populate surreal land/seascapes in paintings that evoke the hot colours of summer and the blues of the Mediterranean Sea. There is a playful interaction between rich textures and dreamlike imagery. Each painting emerges from her imagination through an improvised layering of different materials and media, process and image seemingly intertwined, growing out of each other. "I love to experiment with different methods and materials. I like to mix acrylics, pastels, paper, collage - anything that creates interesting combinations of colour texture and style. My art is my means of personal expression, an exploration of my thoughts, imagination and dreams.”
