Nicosia during the years of the British Rule
The Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia within the frameworks of its programmes for 2016 present the second thematic of special guided tours in its permanents collections entitled “Nicosia during the years of the British Rule”.
It’s about a journey in past times which reflects very recent memories. The historic objects of Museum’s collections narrate events and changes in an era of rapid change during the years of 1878 -1960.
Nicosia transforms, from a graphic and “forgotten” small city of the latest Period of the Ottoman Rule, to a vital modern city. This new status is expressed by the evolvement and change in administration, technological, economic and social segments, which influence the formation and the character of the city as well as the way of life of the habitats in general.
The guided tours will take place at the Museum’s permanent galleries on Friday 19 February 2016, 17:00 (delivered in Greek) and Friday 26 February 2016, 17:00 (delivered in English). The tours will be delivered by Maria Patsalosavvi, Museum’s Curator.
